The Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells quality, new and used furniture, appliances and building materials to the public at greatly reduced prices.

Our busy location offers volunteer opportunities that vary from picking up, receiving, testing, and pricing merchandise to customer service and sales.

This opportunity is open to individuals
and groups up to 10.

ReStores sell building material, furniture and applicances to the public.

 

From sofas to sinks, the Habitat ReStore has what you need for your next project.

And 100 per cent of ReStore proceeds cover Habitat Calgary’s administration costs ensuring that all donations to Habitat go directly to the construction of affordable homes for families in need.  

Participation Details

  • Store hours are 9 am - 6 pm Monday through Saturday, and 10 am - 6 pm Sunday, except statutory holidays
  • Half day shifts (9am-1pm) or (2pm-6pm)*

      * Both shifts together constitute a full day
      * These 4 hour blocks can be flexible

Typical Activities

Word is spreading that the Habitat ReStore is an economical, charitable and environmentally responsible place to shop for furniture, appliances, windows & doors, and other building materials. 

Volunteers help keep staff costs low by helping our ReStore team receive, test, clean, price and display merchandise.  Volunteers may also assist customers with product questions and selection as required.

Positions

Floor Helper

Help with receiving organizing and stocking shelves as well as pricing merchandise and assisting with general store maintenance.

Carpenters/Handyman

Donated materials often need minor repairs.  Carpenters repair and assemble cabinetry.  This is a great way for retired individuals to use their talents and for young people to learn useful skills.

Swamper

Accompany drivers to pick up donated materials from within the great Calgary area and must be comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds.

Cashier

Ring in sales, make change and help answer customer calls and questions as well as record donor information.  New volunteers work with an experienced cashier.  Training is provided.

Electrician

Lighting fixtures and small appliances need to be tested and volunteer electricians are needed to check and fix electrical components.  Another opportunity to practice or learn valuable skills.
